Job Title: Luteman

Reports To:  Job Foreman

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Summary:  Works with lute rake to redistribute the asphalt mix more correctly as it leaves the screed and is ready for rolling

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as requested by their Supervisor.

  • Hand works areas not able to be reached with paver.  
  • Prepares all joints before compaction
  • Repair mat imperfections
  • Must have eye for quality, and ability to communicate with laborers when material is needed.
  • Must be quick paced in ensure mat doesn’t cool prior to compaction. 

Be involved with equipment repairs and maintenance.  This would require a good deal of bending and stooping, as well as working with hammers, wrenches, etc.

Education/Experience:

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

No skills needed

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. 

Computer Skills: 

No Computer skills needed.  

Certificates and Licenses: No certifications needed

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
